Hey guys! I am going to start a monthly favorites post, where I post my makeup/beauty favorites of the month. I know this is a basic post, but I know I always like to see what other beauty bloggers are loving. Maybe one my favorites will end up being one of yours!
I have tried out a few new products this month that I wanted to share with you all!
I discovered this product from the amount of hype around it from other beauty bloggers. I’ve been hearing about it for a while now and finally decided to purchase it earlier in the month. The foundation I have been using all winter (Lorac POREfection Foundation) was not working on my dry skin, so I wanted to try something more suited for that. A lot of beauty bloggers with dry skin said they loved the Fit Me foundation.
I certainly see why. This foundation gives your skin moisture again. I don’t want to say too much about the foundation itself because I plan on doing a more extensive review in the future, however, this is definitely a great foundation for those with dry skin. Also, it is EXTREMELY affordable. Spring is coming so I didn’t want to spend too much money on a foundation for dry skin, since my summer skin is super oily, so this was a great choice.
This foundation is also super long lasting and gives your face a flawless finish. I highly recommend it to anyone!
I think I love this powder even more than the foundation. I highly HIGHLY recommend this for people with dry skin. I was using the Laura Mercier Transclucent Powder before this, which is an AMAZING powder, don’t get me wrong. However, it was sticking to all of my dry patches and accentuating that. I also spoke to the woman at Ulta about this and she said the Laura Mercier Powder really isn’t for girls with dry skin. She suggested I try this powder, which isn’t spoken about as much as the foundation, but I still wanted to give it a try.
This powder is so finely milled that it doesn’t feel like anything is even on your face. It is so light, yet, it really sets your makeup and makes it look matte. I’m not one who loves matte makeup, however, in the spots that you want to look matte, it works. I love this powder especially for under my eyes since my makeup tends to crease and stick to dry patches here. It really smoothes out your skin and gives you an even look. Definitely pick this up if you want a powder that won’t make your dry skin look cakey!
This is a hidden gem. I discovered this product from the amazing Kathleen Lights (aka my favorite YouTuber ever). She has been raving about how amazing this highlighter is for months now. Since it’s only $4.49, I decided to give it a try because if it didn’t work, I wouldn’t feel bad throwing it out.
At first, I was very underwhelmed with this highlight. I think it was because I didn’t really put enough on or see a difference. However, with a few layers, this highlight is the most amazing natural highlight I have ever seen. Sometimes, I feel my makeup looks way too matte. This adds a little glow and highlight to the face that almost gives me a dewy look. I love wearing this to class because it makes my face look healthy, but doesn’t look like an Instagram highlight, which I don’t like to wear on an everyday basis.
This is a definitely a product you can wear everyday if you are going for a more natural look.
This product was a little pricier than some of the other products on the list, but it ended up being worth it. I love Kylie’s matte lipsticks and when I heard she was releasing highlighters, I knew I had to get one. I’m not one to splurge often, but I couldn’t pass this up. I was on the website 10 minutes before the highlights were released just so I could make sure I got one before they sold at.
At first, I was honestly really disappointed with this product. I put it on my face and it literally looked like nothing even changed. I didn’t expect these to be amazing, since Kylie isn’t known for her face products, but I didn’t expect it to lack that much. However, I realized the reason it wasn’t showing up was because I was afraid to swirl my brush in the cool drip marks.
I finally got over it and swirled my brush around. It does take a few layers to get a real glow, but I really do like this. It’s not too strong and it is really pretty. It is soft and natural, which I really like. I wouldn’t compare it to an Instagram glow, but if you are trying to go for a softer, romantic look, this is for you. I’m happy I got my hands on one of these. I definitely want to try her other Kylighters!
I haven’t mentioned this yet, but I am really into skincare. Ever since I’ve come to college, my skin has been prone to breakouts and acne, which is something I never had experienced before. I never really used to keep up with my skincare routine, however, all of the annoying breakouts I’ve been having has really made me want to take care of my skin.
My skin gets super dry in the winter (you haven’t heard this before) and I have been looking for something that would help remove dead skin and dry patches. Whenever I would put face makeup on, it would look super cakey and like my skin was peeling off.
I bought this scrub because I’ve heard great things about it from friends. I really do like it. First off, it smells amazing. Enough said. When I use it, it really does soften my skin and makes it feel refreshed. This scrub is very coarse, so I wouldn’t suggest using this on a daily basis. Using this 2-3 times a week would definitely be ideal and you will see improvement in your skin. Not only does it help with dry skin, but it lightens acne scars, which is another issue I have.
I would highly recommend this product to those with dry skin or those who are prone to breakouts. I’m glad I found another product I can add to my skincare routine.
