#1 Always Moisturize
I normally have very oily skin, so I don’t use moisturizer, but in the winter months, it is an essential for me. If your skin is looking flakey, patchy and red, definitely apply a layer of moisturizer to your face before applying any makeup. I use Pond’s Dry Skin Cream
, which is thick, but works so well to make your face soft and hydrated. This step is so important because no matter how moisturizing your foundation or primer may be, if your skin is dry, makeup will accentuate it and make it look even more visible. Also, make sure you put on enough moisturizer. Sometimes I don’t put enough on and I can definitely notice it when I put on my face makeup. If you are afraid of putting too much on, you can always blot your face afterwards with a paper towel, just to be sure your face doesn’t look too greasy.
